Shoulder joint
The shoulder joint is a ball-and-socket joint with an exceptionally large freedom of movement. This freedom of movement comes about because the joint is stabilised by a small, glenoid cavity made of bone through a large number of muscle groups and tendons. Any person who has experienced strong pain in the shoulder joint over a longer period of time, in particular when carrying out activities over the head, which do not improve by physical treatment, physiotherapy and medication, should consider an operation.

The most frequent disease to the shoulder joint requiring surgery is the impingement syndrome under the subacromial. With the impingement syndrome, usually caused by bone bulges, there is a reduction between the space between the bony subacromial and the humerus head resulting in a wedging of the shoulder capsule such as inflammation of the bursa, calcifications, irritations, swellings and lacerations to the shoulder capsule. The arthroscopic, that is to say the minimally invasive removal of subacromial impingement, the removal of the inflammatory bursa and the removal of the calcium deposit, the pain and restricted mobility of the shoulder join can be removed in most instances.

The arthroscopic solution of joint adhesions can often repair a chronic frozen shoulder. In suitable cases, tears to the shoulder capsule and instabilities of the shoulder joint can be repaired during the course of an arthroscopy.

After any surgical operation to the joints, we draw up a personally adapted follow-up physiotherapy treatment plan for each patient which is based on his/her individual requirements. By way of a special training for joint mobility, exercises to build up muscles and coordination training, we want to achieve that you will regain your usual quality of life and performance as quickly as possible.
