Hernia and abdominal wall surgery, also referred to as hernia in the specialist language, are pathological gaps in the abdomen through which the peritoneum and abdominal organs can pass through to the outside. At the Wilhelmsburg Groß-Sand Hospital's Hernia Centre patients with these diseases are treated by a team of experienced doctors. We operate on hernias, fractured thighs, umbilical hernias, incision hernia after a preliminary operation, diaphragm hernias, pelvic floor hernia and other rare types of hernia of the abdominal wall. In particular, we also treat patients with complicated repeat hernias and large abdominal hernias.

Following an outpatient examination and information on the operation and the follow-up treatment, the surgery is carried out either as an inpatient or an outpatient. The goal is the patient's quick recovery after the operation. minimally invasive anesthetization and surgical procedures, consistent pain therapy and the quickest possible mobilisation are of utmost importance.
