Our operating theatres
The operating wing at the Wilhelmsburg Groß-Sand Hospital has three operating theatres. Here, our surgeons, the theatre nursing staff, anaesthetists and internists work hand in hand during operations. A recovery room is annexed directly to the operating theatre and ensures optimal post-op care and monitoring of the patients. In addition, our interdisciplinary intensive care ward is in the same building and one floor above the operating theatres.
This means that there is only a short distance which allows for the best possible care at all times - even for serious operations.
The most advanced equipment and operating procedures are applied in the operating theatres during surgery. This equipment is constantly controlled and maintained by employees in the operating wing and the medical technology department to see that it is in perfect condition and to ensure the best possible safety.
Special equipment such as autologous blood preparation, the ultrasound surgical scalpel and neuro-monitoring during thyroid operations to protect the nerves ensure that operations performed are as minimally invasive as possible for our patients.
